Shadowcat Systems Speak at YAPC::NA::2012

YAPCNA Logo Mark Keating and Matt S. Trout have both been accepted as speakers for the Yet Another Perl Conference North America, to be held in Madison, Wisconsin, from the 13th to the 15th June 2012. Shadowcat Systems joins an impressive list of presenters for this year's event.

As always Mark will be talking about the community and Matt wil be giving a focussed technical presentation on Perl. This year Mark is discussing the advantages to having an Open model for business and embracing the community whereas Matt will be furthering his discussion on the merits of System Administration and usage of Tak with a real world example.

At this point neither Matt or Mark have submitted Lightning Talks for the event, but if this is similar to previous years they will both do so closer to, or at the time.

Mark will also be spending some time at The Perl Foundation booth in the exhibitors hall, so if you want you can come and talk to him there he may bend your ear about why you should be supporting and sponsoring community events and the value of marketing in the Perl world.

We look forward to seeing you at this event.

Mark Keating will once again be a member of the organisation team for this year's Google Summer of Code initiative on behalf of the Perl Foundation.

Last year under the dilligent leadership of Florian Ragwitz (rafl) the tpf students all managed to complete their assignments successfully. The team are hoping to get a good result this year and even attempt to match it and achieve another 100% success.

Mark will be making flyers and keeping the media sites updated as well as blogging, tweeting and promoting the initiative as much as he can. Follow this site and his mdk.per.ly blog for more information. There is also news on the EPO wiki and the Perl Foundation front page, press releases and initiatives page. Students, mentors and other interested parties can join the #soc-help channel on irc.perl.org.

Please join in the fun.

Matt Trout to speak at Floss UK Spring Conference

Matt S. Trout will be appearing at the FLOSS UK Spring Conference from 20th-22nd March 2012 in Edinburgh.

The FLOSS UK Spring Conference, formerly the UKUUG Spring Conference is an essential event for System Admins and Project Leaders and Shadowcat has tried to maintain a yearly presence of speaking at these events so it was great to be able to send Matt to once again speak.

This year Matt will be presenting a talk on Tak as well as indulging in the atmosphere and contributing to lively hallway track talks. Hopefully he will see you there.
